how’s your sunday going? things are busy round here as we get ready to leave tomorrow afternoon for a week in london! i am unbelievably excited to tour the city, feast on fish and chips, indulge in new beers, and shop ’til i drop.
backing up, we had a grand ole time last night starting with a some drinks with our good friends and ending with a delicious meal with my in-laws. enjoy the pre-wine photo; i can guarantee i did not have this smile on my face when morning rolled around.
regardless, i was up at a decent hour for a quick 3 mile run. i was unaware of the weather when i dressed for said run and, as a result, looked just ridiculous trotting around in my running (mini)skirt through rainy 40 degree weather. oh well!
running was followed by eating… of course! matt and i had a trip to target planned to pick up some last minute travel essentials and stopped for a bite on the way. i started with a wheatgrass shot (that did wonders for my mood and energy!)…
and then dominated an omelette the size of my head.
target was a blast (as always!) and we were greeted by absolutely ridiculous amounts of halloween candy! have you guys experience this at your local target or grocery store?!
we picked up a few bags of our faves (tootsie pops, twix, reese’s and dots, to name a few) for the local trick-or-treaters. mocha and winnie also benefitted from the trip as we found two fantastic halloween costumes for our 4 legged babes. you’ll have to wait to see, though!
i just sat down with a cup of tea to get some work done. we’re off shortly to watch the bears play in sunday night football! back in the morning with a recap.
1. favorite halloween candy. least favorite halloween candy.
2. most ridiculous workout outfit you’ve donned recently.
3. have you ever walked out of target wondering how exactly your total was that high?
4. ever been to london? recommendations?!

hello from atlanta!
have you checked out this morning’s giveaway?! there’s still time and many ways to enter!
it is beeee-a-utiful down here and i am having a grand old time galavanting around the neighborhood. let’s back up though! my flight did not depart until 1:00 p.m. giving me plenty of time to get a few things done this morning, starting with a sunrise 5k.
definitely not my fastest run (still can’t believe i ran a sub-8:00 marathon) BUT it’s getting easier with every run and more enjoyable with every mile. baby steps, right?!
i hunkered down with a cup of coffee (spiked with organic creamer + stevia) and tackled some blog related business (yummy recipe coming up tomorrow!)
matt and i enjoyed a late breakfast together on our way to the airport. while i return sunday morning, matt leaves at the same time for a business trip, meaning we will be apart for the next six days! i’m going to miss my matty.
(yes i’m aware the scarf has been part of every outfit i have worn lately!) i enjoyed a greasy, but filling egg white veggie omelette with a side of jam-med + buttered toast and some sub-par fruit.
not the best meal, but it got the job done and filled me up as i headed to the airport, rolling suitcase and ridiculously large tote in hand. take a look at the plethora of items i deemed necessary to have under my seat mid-flight:
- 2 magazines (health + martha stewart)
- makeup case
- jewelry (never trust my jewelry in a checked bag)
- and some mid-flight snacks (apple, larabar, + almonds)
a major hallelujah for the aforementioned bag of goodies took place as my flight was delayed two hours. two freakin’ hours. i snacked on an apple and soft serve ice cream (very necessary) and flipped through some magazines while i waited. finally at 3:30 p.m. we were wheels in the air headed down south. the flight was quick and easy (once we got movin’!) and i wrapped up some work-related items that have been put off the past few weeks (while sipping on united airlines’ house chardonnay).
welcome to atlanta!
i was greeted by a much needed glass of chardonnay/riesling (a very delicious blend) and a snack plate when i arrived at my girlfriend sarah’s adorable apartment!
we noshed on grapes, almonds, peanut butter filled pretzels, and chips before heading out for some beers and small plates.
we dined al fresco, enjoying the crisp but warm atlanta breeze. i started my meal with a pumpking seasonal ale which was absolutely fantastic. a tad bit spicy, but refreshing and light. paired with water for some post-flight hydration.
for dinner, sarah and i shared an assortment of small plates: roasted veggie flatbread, deconstructed butternut squash ravioli, fish tacos + hummus. all were remarkably delicious and hit the spot after a long day of traveling.
at some point, i ordered another beer, and we ended the evening with toffee sticky pudding, as recommended by our waiter. 1 plate, 3 spoons, 0 leftovers.
i’m curled up in bed ready to pass out as soon as i hit post. we have a full day planned tomorrow… beginning with a 4 mile run. better get some rest. night!

matt and i dressed up last night for a wonderful steak dinner downtown with our close friends. red wine, filet, scalloped potatoes, roasted corn + asparagus were enjoyed by all.
this morning i woke up, chugged some water and was off to the gym to tackle a quick morning workout. it looked something like this:
- 15 minutes stairmaster (level 5)
- 3 x 12 bicep curls
- 3 x 15 triceps extensions
- 3 x 10 bench press
- 3 x 15 lateral raises
- 3 x 15 front raises
- 3 x 12 lat pulldown
- 10 minutes elliptical
in and out in 45 minutes and i crossed a strength session off this week’s total goal of 4! not bad.
i met my girlfriends for a late breakfast this morning at one of our favorite local spots. it was great to catch up while i feasted on an omelette stuffed with caramelized onions, spinach, red pepper + goat cheese. a side of homemade rustic bread rounded out the meal.
in other news, my most prized material possession had a deadly run in with my 5 month old puppy this morning. #fail.
i’m off to console myself with a piece of this and figure out a way to make an extra $150. ideas?
have you made your october goals yet?

twas a long day ’round here.
i arrived home late from a work function and dirtying up the kitchen with a nighttime meal did not sound appealing. i gave in the my chinese craving and ordered up my favorite: chicken + shrimp lettuce wraps with brown rice. 30 minutes later, dinner was at my front doorstep love how that happens.

This morning I packed up my laptop and stack of work-related reading material and headed to a local breakfast spot for a filling breakfast and change of scenery as I read through lease negotiations.

matt took my sassy new shoes (love!) and me out for sushi tonight! we were both ravenously hungry around the early bird hour of 5:00 p.m. and decided to head on over where we, conveniently enough, were able to take advantage of happy hour!
